Ms. Coleen Kern is a NYS Licensed Optician with over 15 years experience in the optical field and founder of ActiveRxEyewear.  She started working in the optical field in 1992 as a sales associate and a year later started learning the trade as an apprentice optician. In 1997 Ms Kern became licensed in NYS as an Optician.   During her years in the optical field she had many questions regarding prescription sports eyewear and in 2006, thru her dedication and with the motivation of a few patients, ActiveRxEyewear was born.  Ms. Kern is constantly educating herself on all aspects of sports eyewear.  From the lens filters for the best visual acuity during each sport, to the quality of frame design and current lens and frame technology, Ms. Kern dedicates herself to constantly improving the quality of life for the sports enthusiast. 

When not at the store, Ms Kern spends her free time with her husband Steve and daughters Kaitlyn and Alexis enjoying the outdoors.  Fun Fact:  When you see the ActiveRxEyewear Logo, you will see a little bit of Katie.

Dr Missy Blowers joins ActiveRxEyewear with 13 years of experience.  She grew up in upstate NY and started at an early age working at an ophthalmology practice with several specialties.  Dr Blowers went on to obtain her B.S. in Biology at Le Moyne College, Syracuse, NY and then her Doctorate in Optometry, Boston, MA.  She is currently licensed in NY to test and treat ocular disease within the scope of NY State Law.

Dr Blowers currently fills in where she can dedicate her time in finding the best fit for the patient, whether that involves contact lenses, glasses or therapeutic eye therapy.  She takes pride in her work and when not at the store spends time with her husband and 2 beautiful children.
